Overviews of Personal Development  Plan {PDP} 

What is Personal Development Plan {PDP}?

it is on-going activity where you actively consider your career and development goals and put in place a plan that will help  achieve what you need to in terms of your development.

It consist is  4 different process.

ØLooking your goals, examining  what you want to do and where you want to get to.
ØEvaluating your current position towards these goals.
Ø Creating  a plan { deciding on a plan of action to get from here to there}.

ØReviewing your action plan 


PDP focus on 3 broad learning areas.
Personal:  I.e. time management, flexibility

Academic: I.e.   academic writing 

Career: i.e.  communication skills, ability to think analytically and creatively
Commercial awareness:  which is about knowing how business work and what makes them tick.


What Is reflection?

Thinking deeply about your action
So that you can act more insight and effectiveness in the future
It is all about ‘standing back’  from an event and thinking carefully what happened
To make  change and  improve for the next event.
Making judgements and drawing conclusions to move on


How to reflect on something

 Ask these questions to your self
ØHow did it go? How do I feel about it?

ØWhat went well or ok? Why?

ØHow could this have been done differently?

ØWhat should I change or work on for next time?


vE-portfolio is  Collection of your personal and professional development.

evidence can be from:

Øwork placement reports

Øcourse work assignments

Øplan for future development

üYou need to

i.Reflect personal  academic and professional development

ii.Deciding what to include in your portfolio

It enables you to:

ØRecognize, evaluate and give evidence of your learning skills and abilities.

ØHelps to increase your awareness of teaching and learning strategies and how these relate to your own learning style

ØBuild your confidence in the interview as you are aware your skills and attributes.
ØAble to clearly express them.
